Can cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) be helpful to people with static encephalopathy and other cognitive impairments characterizing FASD? This training will provide a critical assessment of key considerations service providers should attend to in a best practice service environment. Attention will be given to both cognitive aspects of FASD that may be amenable to CBT, and those features that may constitute barriers to successful treatment with a CBT approach.
Training team will provide examples of important adaptations of CBT that may improve opportunities for people with FASD to experience success in CBT services. Training team will provide experiential learning so that participants will be able to create effective strategies for their practice. CE's approved by LPC Board and ACBHC, pending Substance Abuse Specific CE's from NASW-Alaska, meets regulatory criteria for LMFT CE's.
