Training Overview Description

We know adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have questions about their relationships and sexual health. Often times direct support professionals (DSPs) are asked questions related to sexual health and relationships. However, many DSPs feel they do not have enough training and/or education on sexual health and relationships to adequately respond or address the concerns of those they support. This training will explore healthy relationships and sexual health for adults with IDD and give DSPs tips and tools to help support those they work with.

The purpose of this training is to open the discussion around how to best support individuals when the topic of relationships and sexual health arise in daily work with them. We will be discussing relationships including healthy vs. unhealthy boundaries and interactions. We will also be covering sexual health topics including dating, intimate relationships, consent, interpersonal violence, safety, supporting personal sexual choices, confidentiality and more.
