The objective of this workshop is to approach therapy with a changed paradigm: to be focused on being present rather than just doing techniques. This shift is necessary. In western society therapists commonly focus their attention on doing and completing steps--sometimes providers forget how to be completely, unconditionally present, and open for the therapeutic encounter.
Therapeutic Presence is described as an experience of "openness to life, acceptance, curiosity, serenity, and confidence" for both the therapist and the client. It has been developed out of the Existential-Humanistic evidence-based research, with Emotion Focused Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional-Analysis, and Person Centered roots.
This is an experiential, interactive workshop that will require role playing. Please be prepared to participate.
Lunch will be provided.
Please plan to arrive early as the workshop will begin promptly at 9am.
Registration will close end of day Tuesday, August 6 - seating is limited!
