This training will explore the topic of emotional and psychological trauma and how to provide caring, compassionate, and empathetic services that are trauma-informed. Trauma doesn’t discriminate; it is all around us and affects people of every race, age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic level. Traumatic experiences can impact and alter an individual’s perception of themselves, their world, and the people around them and can disrupt the victim’s biological, cognitive, and emotional functioning as well as their identity, relationships, and social interactions. We will learn the basic principles of trauma informed care and will give practical tools to provide the best care possible to people who have been affected by traumatic experiences. Participants will have a specific plan to implement at least one aspect of trauma informed care.
Dr. Tamar (Tami) Lubitsh-White is a Psychologist with a wealth of varied experience working in Alaska in the field of Mental Health. For example, she managed her own private practice, supervised and managed innovative programs for Alaskan mental health agencies, and served as Consultant for the State of Alaska's Complex Behavioral Collaborative Program. A passionate and engaging Trainer, she leads the state in implementing new and innovative Trauma Informed Care practices in Alaska.
Training Materials & Training Evaluation. All participants are required to access the AKTC e-Learning Portal, https://ttclms.remote-learner.net, in order to review training materials prior to the training. After the training, use the e-Learning Portal to complete the training evaluation which is required for CEs. Log in with the same username (username or email address) and password used to register for the training. Please allow 15 minutes for the system to update payment information before accessing the e-Learning Portal.

Web-Conference Information. This training will be delivered as a live, interactive web-conference using Zoom. You must prepare for the webinar prior to the day of the training. Web-conference connection information is available in the AKTC e-Learning Portal after your registration and payment are processed. You must be logged into Zoom and prepared with a camera and microphone (or a headset) prior to the start of training.
Continuing Education Credits. In order to receive CEs you must be prepared to identify yourself and participate as requested during the training. You must be present and on screen throughout the training and must complete and submit a training evaluation.
Using Zoom. Zoom can be used on a PC or Mac, laptop, IPad, tablet or smart phone and requires an Internet connection, a microphone and a camera (most devices have a built-in mic and camera). For more information about Zoom or to download the software, go to https://zoom.us.
