Training Overview Description

The DC:0–5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood is the developmentally-based system for diagnosing mental health and developmental disorders in infants and toddlers. DC:0–5™ enhances the professional’s ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat mental health problems in the earliest years by identifying and describing disorders of the first years of life that are not addressed in other classification systems, and by pointing the way to effective intervention approaches. ​This official training on DC:0-5™ will be provided as a synchronous online training via Zoom, sponsored by the Washington Association for Infant Mental Health.

Participants

This training is designed to provide an overview of the DC: 0-5 for allied professionals working with children 0-5 and their families. Attendees might be from the fields of early learning, home visiting, health, behavioral health, child welfare, and early intervention. Mental health clinicians new to the population may benefit from this training as a preface to the longer Clinical Training for DC:05 described here. Mental health clinicians with a background in infant and early childhood development may rather take the longer Clinical DC:0-5 Training.

This training is being offered twice on different days/times: Feb 11-12, 8-11 am AK time, and March 25-26, 8-11 AK time.

Instructor

Jamie Elzea, MSW, MPH, LICSW, IMH-E®, is the Executive Director of the Washington Association for Infant Mental Health and a ZERO TO THREE® Certified Trainer for the DC: 0-5.
