Training Overview Description

Peers are a vital piece of the care support system and are not always utilized appropriately. Telehealth provides great opportunities to expand the utilization of peers and leverage their lived experiences of addiction and recovery. When done correctly, peers and care coordination efforts provided in a digital health app can enhance the care system, increase motivation and engagement in addiction recovery services, and improve the overall health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

This training is part of the Advances in Technology in the Addiction Profession eight-part series offered by NAADAC.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to describe the role of a certified peer recovery coach and what differentiates them from sponsors and other licensed health professionals.
  • Participants will be able to describe what current whole-person centered care interventions exist and how they can be improved with the utilization of digital health platforms and apps.
  • Participants will be able to describe what recovery capital is and how certified peer recovery coaches in combination with care coordination efforts, can make significant positive change in the health and well-being of the clients they work with.

Content Level Beginner

Beginning level courses introduce learners to a content area; include information about a condition, treatment method, or issue; and involve learning and comprehending content.

CEs and Certificate

A Certificate of Completion for 1.5 CEs is available by participating in this specialty online training and passing an online CE quiz. Those who successfully complete the full series and pass all eight CE quizzes for this eight-part series will be eligible to apply for the Advances in Technology in the Addiction Profession Certificate. Access to the online CE quiz will be in your NAADAC profile after registration.
