Training Overview Description

Join us for this 60-minute webinar on suicide risk assessment, prevention, and treatment. At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Describe two key aspects of the Aeschi model of psychotherapeutic care for suicidal patients
  • Define management vs. treatment of suicidality
  • Describe the therapeutic value of the clinical narrative

Event-specific Details

Katherine (Kate) Comtois is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. She has developed or adapted interventions to improve care and clinician willingness to work with suicidal patients including Caring Contacts, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), and Preventing Addiction Related Suicide (PARS). She is the director of the Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery whose mission is to promote the recovery of suicidal individuals and the effectiveness and well-being of the clinicians and families who care for them. She founded the Society for Implementation Research Collaboration (SIRC) and is the PI and Director of the Military Suicide Research Consortium Dissemination and Implementation core.
