Training Overview Description

Interpersonal relationships, intimacy, and sexuality are important parts of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. However, knowing how to support individuals in these areas can be challenging for direct support professionals. In this session, attendees will explore and discuss strategies for supporting a person's interpersonal and sexual rights, health, and well-being. Topics that will be addressed include: assisting individuals with IDD in understanding healthy relationships, consent, intimacy, as well as overall sexual health. Presenters will also share handouts, videos, and other resources that may assist direct support professionals in this area.
