Training Overview Description
The ASAM criteria is a widely used set of guidelines used to determine levels of care in people with addiction and co-occurring conditions. The ASAM Criteria offer a strengths-based, multidimensional approach to assessment, and considers the client’s needs, obstacles, and liabilities, as well as their strengths, assets, resources and support structure.
In this training, an overview of what the six ASAM dimensions are, and how to use them to help determine the appropriate level of care.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the evidence for the effectiveness of treatment for sexual offending
- Describe major best practice characteristics of effective programs
- Prepare a work plan to better align one’s program with best practices

About the Presenter
Anna Sappah, Psy.D, CDC I is currently serving as the Clinical Supervisor and Continuing Care Coordinator for Recovery Services at Wisdom Traditions in Anchorage, Alaska. Dr. Sappah has previously served on the Governor’s Advisory Board for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Trust Training Cooperative and RADACT’s advisory board, and Board of Directors for Center for Drug Problems. Dr. Sappah’s clinical focus is providing therapeutic services to patients with co-occurring SUD and MH disorders, including trauma.
Registration Information
CHD e-Learning Portal - Training Materials, Zoom Connection, and Training Evaluation. To locate the Zoom connection and all training materials, all participants are required to access the CDH e-Learning Portal, https://ttclms.remote-learner.net, in order to review training materials prior to the training. After the training, use the e-Learning Portal to complete the training evaluation which is required for CEs. To receive a certificate that confirms your attendance, you must complete the training evaluation within 30 days of the event. Log in with the same username (username or email address) and password used to register for the training.
Continuing Education Credits. In order to receive CEs you must do the following:
- Select which CE credit option(s) you need when you register - you may return to your registration and modify your selections, if needed, by using the registration link in this email
- Be prepared to identify yourself and participate as requested during the training
- Be present and on screen throughout the training - camera must be on throughout the training
- Complete and submit the training evaluation - located in the e-Learning Portal
